Three Cheers and continued Prayers, for the Johnsons

Reading Time: < 1 minute

This column, today, is strictly my opinion and not necessarily the opinion of the owner of this publication, management, or any other staff. I am pleased that Philadelphia City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and his wife Dawn Chavous were not found guilty in court last week in the federal bribery case. Because the Jury couldn’t come to a decision, the trial was declared a “hung jury.”

In a perfect world, that would mean that Councilman Johnson and his businesswoman wife can simply just go on with their very productive, exciting, and historic lives without a cloud over their heads, waiting to see if, in fact, the Federal Government will file for another trial, still trying to take down this, African American husband and wife team that from everything I can see, are doing a great job.

They’re doing a great job as a couple. Being married isn’t necessarily the easiest thing in the world to do successfully. Ask me. They’re raising their two little boys very nicely and keeping their arms around them with love, security and education. Councilman Kenyatta rocks as an elected official. Like him or not, he works smart, and he works hard for the constituents of his district and all the citizens of Philadelphia.
