Dr. King drew parallels from Ghana’s struggle and triumph of gaining independence to Blacksconstant fight for civil rights in America. Coming from the success of the Montgomery bus boycott,Dr. King and his wife Coretta were invited to Ghana by the first prime minister and Penn Alum, Kwame Nkrumah.Ā
We encourage guests to wear African-inspired attire! The program includes the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble, African-inspired delicaciesand the jazz music of Glenn Bryan and Friends! It will be a full and fun evening!Ā
