MIAMI – Feb. 14, 2022–Blockchains are a fairly recent invention that supporters believe have endless possibilities, including NFTs, which have shown a steep incline in popularity within the last year, particularly among African-Americans. Deeper Tones Collective’s passion for building a Black community around these technologies has culminated in a week-long virtual festival, BLACK META FEST: THE FUTURE OF BLACK HISTORY. It is a FREE event that will run from February 21-27, 2022.Â
Blockchain technology has spawned incredible innovations and has several applications. However, few understand this new technology, and even fewer know how to use it to its greatest effectiveness. Deeper Tones Collective wants to show Black professionals how to make the most of these emerging technologies and explore the “Metaverse” in an accessible space—space, that is.
“The Deeper Tones Collective created Black Meta Fest to address the needs of the Black community, who have historically been left out of tech and financial ecosystems via systemic oppression on the national and local level,” said Adorable Jasmine, lead organizer of Black Meta Fest.
The Web 3 conferences are generally unaffordable, creating a financial barrier for most African-Americans interested in breaking into this emerging field. Black Meta Fest addresses these concerns by offering a free event and creating a comfortable space for Black professionals to learn the basics and advanced concepts from Black Web 3 professionals in an open and welcoming environment.Â
Black Meta Fest is a collaboration of Black Web 3 professionals who are actively creating and teaching within the space. Individuals from various disciplines interested in learning about cryptocurrency, NFTs, DAOs, the “metaverse,” blockchain development are welcomed. This includes an NFT that will be designed by renowned car designer Bryan Collier Young that will be minted as an NFT.
Meta Film Monday explores the future of film and TIV in the Metaverse. Voxel Tuesday is dedicated to socializing while “world” hopping into different Black-designed Metaverse spaces.Â
