Welcome back to the Philly Beat! Yes. I have been out of commission for some time due to the spine surgery I had in November. I am slowly but surely recovering with physical therapy and occupational therapy… a full year to recover is what the doctors say I can expect. But I have so much to share. So let me get started…
Congratulations go out to WDAS Radio Personality Patty Jackson, who had a street named in her honor. The 2300 block of Ellsworth Street (Patty Jackson Way) where Patty grew up was named after her with a big celebration that included R&B Legend Patti LaBelle, Kathy Sledge, and Councilman Kenyatta Johnson.
If you thought that was an honor, Patty said she was also honored when Jamie Foxx stopped by to pick up his personally made peach cobbler prepared by the chef herself, Patty Jackson. Their encounter was so cute. Sorry I wasn’t there to be a part of the party. Way to go Patty!!

Speaking of parties, folks from the hit family sitcom “Blackish” aren’t too excited that the hit show has been canceled. The eighth and final season wrapped up with plenty of tears and a lot of fond memories. I look forward to seeing what Anthony Anderson and Tracie Ross plan to do next.
