Hard work and keeping your nose to the grindstone are practices that are extremely important to achievement in any career. Dreaming big and working hard always lends perspective.
Of course, the reality is that anyone can tough it out alone and still achieve success in their chosen career. However, mentorship opens up an entirely different perspective. It gives you an edge you wouldn’t necessarily have if you went it alone.
It’s been my experience that you’re going to face struggles on some level during your career or business pursuits, but enduring the struggles is far easier with solid, steady mentorship. It can be scary to open up and share your career aspirations or business ideas with anyone, and you’re right to be apprehensive. Not everyone is honest, forthright and everyone doesn’t have your best interest at heart. It pays to be extremely judicious when choosing a mentor.
