Let My Will Be Done

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I’m writing this column. You’re reading this column. That means we made it into the year 2022. I believe we are still here for a purpose. That in and of itself in my mind, is worth celebrating. One of the things I did as we came to the close of 2021 was to re-look at things that are critical that responsible adults need to do, such as pre-planning for when you make transition. I have always been one who has been opinionated. I know what I like, and don’t like, and I know what I want.

Giving all due credit to my mother, Joe Ann Abney Martin, it was her, who taught my sister and I early on, the importance of having a Will, telling family members where they can find a copy of your Will and the importance of pre-planning for how you want your funeral service, etc.

There are several people that I speak with every day at least once a day, sometimes more. My daughter is one of those people. So every time she called me the last 4 days of 2021, she caught me in the midst of searching for my most recent copy of my Will. I also shared with her that I was writing out my obituary and she became a bit shocked I must say. Almost speechless, and it’s hard to get my daughter to be speechless.
