Is Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Dream relevant in the year 2022? I think so. With all the challenges of the world that we still face, which include: bigotry, racism, the violence pandemic, the ongoing Voting Rights fight, an unequal playing field for Black children in school, who come from low income families, and a bevy of health concerns for poor people in this country, I think for sure, Dr. King’s Dream is still important.
Let me just review some of the words in Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream Speech.” You’ll see what I mean.
King’s pursuit of equal rights began at an early age, and by the time he delivered his famous speech, he was already well-known for his activism. After meeting with then-President John F. Kennedy, during which King urged the president to sign a second Emancipation Proclamation to eliminate racial segregation, the March on Washington for jobs and freedom took place on August 28, 1963.
