Quite frankly, I shudder to think what “might” have happened if the jurors in the Ahmaud Arbery murder trial had not done the right thing and found the three men accused, of murder, guilty. Having flashbacks to the civil unrest, rioting, looting, and community destruction that unfolded after the murder of George Floyd in Minnesota in 2020 and the ripple effects from that, I knew there would be outrage and outrageous behavior by some if the Arbery verdict wasn’t fair.
Some were amazed that on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, 11 white jurors and one Black juror found Gregory McMichael, Travis McMichael, and William Bryan guilty in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. The message the verdict sends, to my ears, is that “Black lives do matter.”
