La-Ree Henry shared, This has been my passion for quite a few years, to come in our community and lift our community up through educating them about good health and how to live healthy lives. I myself am a licensed health professional. When I opened my business, Grand Entrance Venue, in the midst of the pandemic, I know there were some people who thought I was crazy. But when it’s in your heart and your soul to help your community that you love to get healthy, you cannot allow anything to stop you, not even COVID-19.
Now all I need is for the people to come out and participate in upcoming health events I’m hosting. I hope everyone who hears about our events will spread the word, and when you come, bring the entire family. Children especially need to see us adults operating in a healthier manner in order to stop the cycle of obesity and present more healthy living options for mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.”
“Over a 7-year time frame, I lost 120 pounds. I started seriously working on losing weight in 2014 when I was almost 250 pounds. I lost the weight naturally through a change in lifestyle habits. In 2014 I became a piscatorian and learned to better manage my intake of processed foods. I didn’t have any surgeries. No, no, no. No gimmicks. Just pure faith and prayers, consistency, and a mindset change.”
Le-Ree Henry, a relatively new business owner along the North 22nd Street business corridor is taking the community by storm in a positive, healthy way. Henry is a licensed occupational therapist in PA, CA, LA, and TX and proud owner of Grand Entrance Venue located at 2850 N. 22nd Street. She is kicking off a new health concept on the corridor starting Sunday, August 15th. The event has been named theShop Well, Pop Up Event” and will take place from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. once a month, for the foreseeable future.
La-Ree Henry stated,” I will be partnering with local vendors, exceptionally trained registered nurses, and other health professionals to share information with our guests about health issues that are critically impacting our communities such as High Blood Pressure, Obesity, Diabetes, and various types of cancer, and yes we will continue to educate people around COVID-19 as new information becomes available on that. We’ll talk about healthy diets, the proper nutritional foods to eat, and strategies to embed healthy habits into your lifestyle. We will even be bringing in some chefs to show us how to prepare easy and inexpensive, healthy meals we can feed ourselves and our loved ones.”
Each month guests who attend the Shop Well, Pop Up Events will have the opportunity to get free wellness checks, such as blood pressure checks, other health education information, and resources. In addition, there will be some wholesome products and services available for purchase. There will be instruction on preventative measures one can take to fight against obesity and reduce many other health-related issues of the Black and Brown community. Vendors are welcome to participate, but space is limited. There will be a raffle, refreshments, and family-friendly games. Dates for the other Shop Well, Pop Up Events” will be announced after the first event on August 15th. Parking on North 22nd Street on Sundays is free and 95% of the businesses along the corridor are closed on Sundays, so parking will be very convenient for guests.
