Small Business Saturday

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The first Saturday after November every year is observed as Small Business Saturday. This year, Small Business Saturday fell on November 30th. Small Business owners around the nation who are about making that bag made sure they hosted special events and offered sales and discounts on Small Business Saturday.

The North 22nd Street Business Association and the Allegheny West Foundation made sure to have Santa Claus on North 22nd Street on Small Business Saturday to help draw more shoppers, particularly parents with children, to the busy shopping corridor.

The North 22nd Street Business Corridor runs from 22nd and W. Lehigh down to 22nd and West Allegheny Avenue. The corridor brags 110 active storefronts with almost fifty percent African American business owners. Currently, in Philadelphia, there are 129 recognized business corridors, which means there are a lot of choices where Philadelphia residents can shop and keep some of their hard-earned money in the neighborhoods.

Including the North 22nd Street business corridor, some of the other well-known and popular business corridors in Philadelphia are The 52nd Street Business Corridor, the Lancaster Avenue Business Corridor, The Germantown Avenue Business Corridor (in Chestnut Hill), Point Breeze Avenue Business Corridor, Main Street Business Corridor in Manayunk, the North Broad Street Business Corridor, and so on.

Whatever you do this holiday season, make sure you do some shopping in your neighborhood with small business owners.
