We are facing one of the most important elections of all time, and everyone should be heading to the polls to VOTE! In Georgia, a lot of us elected to vote early. I thought it was very important for me to vote at the polls and not by mail; despite my disability and using a walker, I wanted to cast my vote at the polls. Unable to drive myself, I sought help. I googled ride to polls, called voter registration centers, called my church, etc. NOTHING. Now, during the last election, phone numbers were plastered on television for ride assistance to the polls. This election, I could not find that information and called ABC station for guidance. Unfortunately, the receptionist was unaware of any such things. I was puzzled, but started looking again online and found a link called Rides to the Poll. Now, for two weeks, this information was not available. What raised my concern was for those seniors, people unable to walk or drive, how will they be accommodated?
After numerous efforts, I finally found the link, called the television station back, and gave them the information I had found. They apologized because the person who answered the phone gave me inaccurate information. I explained my concern and asked if they
would provide this information to their viewers. Well, I believe my call made a difference because that information was provided that evening and on. My ride came, picked me up, and I voted at the polls. Early!!!
Make sure your voice is heard, and VOTE!!
