The Philadelphia Youth Leadership Council (PYLC) held its excellent Networking Brunch on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Temple University Center City Campus, coordinated by lovely Ms. Tysha, beautiful Sister Q, and wonderful Ms. Terri. Special shout out to Mr. Michael Rice, “Mr. Magnificent himself!”
The two Mistresses of Ceremonies, Jordyn Darden and Zyann Williams kept the well-organized agenda going smoothly. Absolutely, everyone was on point, from reciting the Manifesto to assuring the attendees and themselves of how magnificent they were! An excellent concept for the members of the PYLC.
As the program continued, council members had various parts, including some members introducing their respective special guests. Special Guests who were among the speed networking tables were:
Derek Lee – Entertainment – Comedian & Magician)
Ernie Bristow, Community Activist
Jadah McClam. CEO, Entrepreneurship, McClam Accessories
Amanda Hayes, Miah’s World (Support for Families with Children on the Autism Spectrum)
Veronica Norris (Ms. V) Outreach Specialist, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Civic Engagement
Kudos! To Alumni BT/PYLC Alan Graham, who was a phenomenal keynote speaker! It was a great move to have a keynote speaker who is almost their peer age. Alan Graham, is 25 years old and attends Cheyney University; he will be part of the graduating Class of 2025. Everyone applauded all his accomplishments with enthusiasm, hope, joy, and a sense of pride. Alan is just one of PYLC’s many success stories.
Speaking of Alumni, it is always good to recognize Alumni Life Coaches, and we had one of our GT/BT Life Coaches among the crowd supporting her very own son. How awesome!
Let us not forget our scrumptious and delicious brunch of fish, grits, eggs, waffles, home fries, fruit, turkey sausage, and turkey bacon. Well, you get it! Just super customer service, along with the tasty food! Thank you to our caterers!
WE ARE MAGNIFICENT!
I had the pleasure of personally speed networking with many PYLC members, who left their business cards with me. These youth were Jordyn Darden, Zyann Williams, Zaimier Covington, Nina Small, Kaboni Wells, Anyia Norris, Jonathan Edmond, and Nate Waters. Those PYLC members I missed the opportunity to network with, please know I will see you the next time.
All the PYLC members were dressed professionally in cardigan sweaters with the PYLC emblem, white shirts/white blouses, and burgundy ties. Not only were they dressed professionally, but they also demonstrated an impressive professional and business environment. During the networking process, they approached each special guest with their miniature printed notebook and 4×6 postcard with preprinted questions to ask each networking special guest and (in turn) to obtain a signature from each one after engaging conversationally.
The PYLC Brunch was a splendid time of information, note-taking, and laughter for healing. The month of December is a climate of an array of causes and emotions–sharing this time to network and fellowship was indeed a worthy cause to help anyone going through anything!
Mentioning names and remembering names is a challenging task at times. For those who are not mentioned in this article, please charge it to my head and not my heart! As you know, (Ms. V) loves giving shoutouts when possible! Special shoutouts to Ms. Traci & Ms. Shonda! A double shoutout to PYLC!! Parents/Guardians, thank you!
