In defiance of the inclement weather, over 800 hundred people strolled along the Chester Waterfront on Saturday, April 29th, to shine a spotlight on Autism. The City of Chester partnered with the Gifted Child, LLC, and Amachi Chester Mentoring Program to host the ‘Stride for Autism’ event.
Following an energetic Zumba warmup led by Dana Bowser, attendees walked around the pavilion browsing the twenty-five vendor stands.
The event had an array of activities for the children, including games, music, and bouncy houses. The strong informational component allowed attendees to access crucial data and statistics about Autism.
Rosetta Carter, Director of Health Education for the City of Chester, said, “I thought the Autism Walk was a great success with over 800 families with children in attendance. Because the walk was such a success, we were able to increase awareness about autism and to ensure that parents with autistic children get the necessary services.”
