Lifelong Ardmore resident Sweet Caroline Merrill is celebrating another milestone. She turns 108 years old! As the most senior and still active member of PALM – Center for Positive Aging in Lower Merion-PALM celebrates her. In keeping with tradition, PALM is hosting her 108th birthday celebration.
As an active church member, den mother, daycare worker, private duty nurse, American Legion Auxiliary member, and community member, she has touched the lives of generations of Ardmore’s youth. Her family is one of the first Black families to move to Ardmore in the late 1880s, touching three different centuries. This 1934 Lower Merion graduate has made her mark in the hearts and minds of her family and community and exemplifies Positive Aging in Lower Merion.
Caroline Merrill has been an active centenarian, traveling to Brussels, Barcelona, and Amsterdam from the age of 101-103, and is known for her smile, laughter, and sweet personality. She attends church regularly and can be found at most Ardmore community gatherings. She started the exercise classes at PALM at 85 and continued into her 100s.
So, on Friday, October 28, 2022, PALM honors and celebrates Caroline Mary Merrill’s 108-year contribution to the community.
