A grant for $100,000 has greatly improved the opportunities for the Chester Panthers Football Team. On Friday, July 31st, State Representative Brian Kirkland presented Coach Charles Thompson and the team and cheer squad with a check. The Panthers football program has been extremely instrumental, effective, and successful in its efforts in mentoring countless youth throughout the City of Chester.

State Representative Brian Kirkland and staff, Coach Charles Thompson, along with players and cheer squad members, Dr. Denise Purnell-Cuff of Moving Mountains, Kyle Davis of KC Electric, and parents and guardians, all came out to witness the presentation. “I appreciate being able to be of assistance to the community.”, said Dr. Purnell-Cuff, who was instrumental in writing the grant for the team.

This grant gives the team a solid start on creating a state-of-the-art concession stand, which greatly enhances their ability to raise funds for travel to outside competitions. The coach, team, and cheer squad are beyond excited and grateful for the support. The Panthers football program has been a staple in Chester and many of its players have gone on to college and careers beyond the gridiron.
